There r horn resp input of 1850 & 186 in the post database simulation.
The horn is almost the same as we see.
But there is difference as under. Mainly S1 & S2. & horn length.
Which one is ok?
186 horn
s1=660

I believe the horns are the same, its just that there is one peice of wood moved which dictates the rear chamber volume. S oi thing its just the rear chamber thats different,
smaller rear chamber for the 1850 "tighter" driver,
larger for the 186 "looser" driver. 186 will go a bit lower i think but not as loud.

Thanks Jake_Fielder.
My question is about horn size S1 & S2 of 1850 & 185. Why the value of S! & S2 is different for hornresp as mentined in my above post when the S1 & S2 are similar. Same thing about horn length also. |

Ah, i see what you mean, it depends where you take the throat to be, it could be the first bend, or it could be where the edge of the driver is. or even between the centre and edge of the driver etc... Does it really make very much differance though. Model both with 1850 rear chamber and driver and see how much difference there is, also you could see which one is closer to Rogs charts on the main site...

Thanks Jake_Fielder,
As u said, i want to know from where we should start throat in ur opinion. But the more important is S2. Why so much difference 4800 & 6000, when in both boxes it is same. |

This throat matter was discussed before also at
http://www.speakerplans.com/forum/topic11248_page2.html. But i was not able to come to any conclusion there hence asked this question. I now expect/request Mr. Rog Mogale to just give Hornresp input parameter screen/data of 1850 & 186. This way we will get answer right from Master. |

Sorry, but the Horn length on an 1850 Horn is not as stated above, and probably approx 160cm (5.5ft). |

Thanks levyte357,
I tried with changing the horn lengths in Hornresp to get the same frequency response as in 1850 plan. But failed. |
