just curious if anyone has used the 186 horn with the 1850 horn together in the same stack and weather it would sound ok .
i have 4 1850 horns and plan to put a pair of 186 horns on top playing 90Hz to 210Hzn. this way the 1850s are doin less work. someone told me 1850s nd 186 bins phase bad but surly if they are running diff frequencies they will sound fine together thank help is much appreciated

I thought the only difference between the 1850/186 horn was the size of the rear chamber...........if this is true then the time alignment between the cabs should be the same.

yeah there the same size but the horn length is longer on the 1850. i reckon the 186 should sound perfect onto of the 1850

Why not just build more 1850's?
4 running sub 2 running kick + your tops. Then you dont have to worry about making sure your not mistaking the 186's for 1850's if they have the same style bracing. and you wont have to worry about the time alignment or phase being an issue.

1850s and 186s shouldn't be used above 110Hz ish. Not many DIY folded horns will reach up to 210 and still sound good.

I use mine a little higher than that. I typically go to 125 with my 1850s. They sound fine, though I do generally reduce a little bit of the upper part with parametric, as it gets really loud up high and overcomes the low end.

That's why I say ish, I would be looking to cross out after 110. The higher up you get the worse the honk.
