Hi guys I have completed a pair of tri amped 15+10+1 cabs I have used an18sound 10m 600 mid in its own sealed enclosure within the main box this will be powered with a C-Audio RA 3000 for the mids then I have used a kappa pro 15a for the bass end and these will be powered by a peavey 2000 and a celestion 1" comp fitted to a p-audio ph222 horn for highs powered by a cheap little digital amp the question is I want to build a pair of x1 to give the bottom end more poke and was thinking of loading them with the 18 sound lw1400 drivers then powering them with an sr707 bridged into 4ohms ran from the sub out on my vmx 1000 would it work and would the amp cope ok?

It would probably work, however the X1 is better with even more heavy duty drivers.  The 18LW1400 is a very good driver in reflex cabs.  Go for something around 180L tuned to 40Hz or just under.  The B&C Sub18 or the 18Sound Kit18 designs would be perfect under your mid-tops.

I run the 18LW1400 in reflex cabs for the bottom end of my own system and I'm a big fan of them.

Ok any suggestions on drivers from the 18sound range for the x1 I'm dead set on the x1 cabs as I like the protection the cabinet offers the drivers ie no need for grilles etc

There may be no need for grills but there are two rather big ports and lots of cans and bottles can get pushed in those! Just a thought.

I was thinking more about the cones not getting kicked in I never thought about folk using them as dustbins may have to cover ports with nylon mesh perhaps

i had them stacked 2 high in a tent last summer and a guy had them with bottles and cans in all the ports going in and out together.. it was quite funny.

Do you think my C-Audio SR 707 will have enough balls to run a pair of them if I bridge it and drive them as a 4ohm mono load?

If you're not looking to run very high power then the 18LW1400 (or preferably the updated 18LW2400) might be ok.  The new LW2500 looks quite interesting but it's not out yet.

Power-wise the SR707 would be fine but I would be careful running them at 4Ohms bridged.  It will get VERY hot!  It'll depend on your music style and how hard you're running whether it's a good idea.

would i be better off using the 707for the 15inchreflex bass midsection of my 3 way cabs and use the peavey 2k to run the subs as a mono 4ohm load ? or would it not have enough wellie to run two x1 subs?
and again back to drivers for them i just had a look at the eminence omega pro would that bea better driver to put in the x1's than the 18 sound i know the 18 sound stuff is better quality than the eminence gear but if the origional P-Audio driver is no longer available what are folks using instead that doesnt cost a small mortgage?its all a bit of a mine field

I'd definitely say 18Sound over the Eminence.  Most people will use these;

Probably not much to choose between the amps but it depends which Peavey it is.

You are also going to need a proper crossover to run the subs rather than just using the sub output on the DJ mixer.
