Fully agree with that. For an allround bass cab, tuning in the lower to mid 40 Hz and an F3 in about the same region, is just where you need it to be.

Going with a net int. volume of 170Hz ( drivers, ports, bracing etc), FB 45.6 gives me a F3 with 46.6Hz with no displacement issues and a nice flat alignment. 2 150mm round ports 199mm long give reasonable air velocity.

I think you would need a larger box to use the x-max and get lower. Still, a strong 45Hz is still plenty low for most music, and restricting displacement is no bad thing for elderly drivers.

I am restoring a pair of cabs that are 183L inside without ports.
The original was tuned to 32hz which i find to low.
They were 2x4” and now its going to be 2x6”

The question is; what are the main fb for 15”?

I was thinking of 40hz but is this to low too?
If I sim 50hz fb the graf are much flatter but dont go as low.
Could I use a slowly falling curv or should I aim for a flat one?
Highpass gain will also help at the end, right?

The drivers are old RCF L15P200AK with green backplate and a fs of 38hz.

They are going to play mainstream music at the end.

And yes, 180L is a bit small but this i what i got and try to do the best of :-)
