I am wondering if anyone has built a 2x8 +1" cab for bass guitar.  A friend has a GK RB800 that is Bi-amp and is looking for a cab to handle the top end.  The amp delivers 100w to the dedicated  high output and has a variable x-over.  GK suggests starting with the crossover set to 500hz. The bottom end is a single 15" EV copy loaded with an Eminence 3015LF
I am considering a Faital Pro 8" 8FE200 as a candidate for the 8" cones.
Any suggestions or links to a previously built DIY cab of this sort would be appreciated.

There are eminence and celestion drivers with a closed back requiring no chamber.  They are designed specifically for 500hz+ applications, such as bridging gaps between (for example) a 15" and 1".

I have a pair suspended in front of 15" drivers in my 2x15.  Took a bit of work, but I recessed the 15s about 5mm, cut out, inverted and re-glued the dust-caps and then bolted the 6" drivers to the grill.  The result is a somewhat co-axial effect (in the loosest definition of the term).

Before I decided upon that idea, I had toyed around with making a cabinet similar in dimensions to the 2x15 to house the MF+HF.  My plan was to use closed back drivers and utilise the rest of the space as cable storage or as a case for a pedal board.
