i realise the stepped horn design by walt on the speakerstore site is not intended for p.a. but what does anyone think about one on its side between two punishers for a small rig?

they do an almost similar job, the tapped will go lower, and the punisher will be a bit louder id think. use one or the other.

It is a very simple build though. I'd be tempted to give it a try with some of the wood in our lockup and a spare Ciare.
Not sure how good it'd sound at a distance though. |

i built a double tapped horn based on walt's design to use as a sub with the martin rig, sadly the drivers got blown up in something else before i had had much chance to see what it did. air was moved however at the one event where it got a good beasting. what i would be tempted to try was a pretty much direct educated guess copy of the danley single 12" with the driver in the middle of the horn (more like a tapped horn proper?) and with the opening on the end. better still would be trying to re-fold it to emulate the other single 12" danley sub. i am still looking into this as an option for completing the martin system, along with wicked ones and a modular bertha. all good fun. anyway, they do play notes that the punishers don't reach, but are better matched to a bass bin optimised to play in a higher passband, such as the usb.

i've used the stepped horn outdoors once but didnt really get to turn it up very much, i did consider it'd make more sense for PA if it exited from the end rather than the side but would mean a stupidly deep stack |
