Loaned some Battons off a friend, they do 8 segment mode but when I dmx them upto limelight they only register as 4 segment mode.

Does any one know if there's a way to change them to 8 segment whilst dmx'd up?

Cheers

RTFM perhaps?
Limelight doesn't 'know' what is connected to it, so cannot decide what mode to run a light in based on the mode thelight is in.
Tell us what fixture it is and we can RTFM for you ;)

Skytec 151.001 is the model. I've hunted high and low and can't find a manual.

I've got 15 or 16 dimmers on ATM "can't recall without looking", but nothing works after this....

What does RTFM stand for?

How do you know they have 8 addressable segments?
What menu options for channels do you get?
If it's got 8 segments then it will have a mode that is at least 24ch (8xRGB), and maybe 26ch (8xRGB + 2 special control channels)
If you have patched 15 or 16 dimmers but it only lights 1/4 of the fixture then the fixture is in the wrong mode. You will need to change this on the fixture.
If it is in the correct mode, the first 3 channels (or if the control channels are at the start channels 3,4,5) should do RGB for the first 1/8 of the fixture.

as it stands this is what it does
dim 1 = built in features
dim 2 = adjusts built in features
dim 3 = Strobe (slow to fast)

dim 4 = section 1 red
dim 5 = section 2 red
dim 6 = section 3 red
dim 7 = section 4 red

dim 8 = section 1 green
dim 9 = section 2 green
dim 10 = section 3 green
dim 11 = section 4 green

Dim 12 = section 1 Blue
dim 13 = section 2 blue
dim 14 = section 3 blue
dim 15 = section 4 blue

i have seen the battons be used in 8 segments before, and they work in 8 segments with the built in features.

ill do a short video of the options on the rear of the batton in a moment if this will help

Ok, so you need to change the mode on the fixture then, and use the 8 segment Limelight profile (I'm assuming it uses profiles of some sort?)

The layout ouf the RGB channels is weird though, as it makes it difficult to expand from there. Normally you get the channels running RGBRGBRGBRGB so if you want to add more segments you just add more RGBRGBRGBRGB

Having watched the second vid, when it says CH15, press up/down or sub. I suspect SUB = Submenu so try this first. Often referred to as 'Enter' on other fixtures. The display will probably flash at that point to show it can be edited. You should then be able to use up/down to change the channel mode. I suspect it will be CH27 (15+12) on the display, assuming it keep s the 3 control channels the same.
Press sub to select the new mode.

Lime light doesn't have any generics to match thi I don't think, I've just been using dimmers.

Once I have tried this and if it works will I then need a total of 27 dimmer channels?

Cheers norty
