hi, my 32bit windows 7RC expires in 6 days, so i'm wondering if i should bother trying out a 64bit OS again?

last time i tried a few of my progs didn't like it, but i dont remember if i attempted to run in admin host thing mode before..

anyway, it's for a lenovo t61 laptop, with max of 4gb ram, i've never found 32bit to be too slow or anything, and i have alot of odd software, which may not run well on 64bit, so how have you found it and is it worth it?

cheers

Unless you have apps that you absolutely know benefit massively from working in x64 (CAD apps perhaps) then there's basically no point unless you have more than 4GB RAM.

x86 apps do run faster in x64 Environment...

x86 apps can only access 3.5GB Ram if you have 4GB it might be beneficial to get x64

as toasty said the real benefits are only massively noticeable if you are running x64 code(and drivers)..

If you can get x64 drivers for all of your hardware then i would go for x64, if you stay x86 then you will limit yourself in the future... x64 apps are coming out now. might be worth investing...
