after a pair of 8" midbass drivers for hifi use
8ohm relatively low power (c50w of amp power on tap) more focussed on midrange quality than low end extension will usually need to cover 100-3000hz but would like to be able to play down to 50hz at low power bonus points for octagonal chassis ala b&c 8mbx51, faital 8pr200a etc

Never criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Once you have, call him what you like, you're a mile away and you've got his shoes!

I think Markie(the grille man) on here may have had some 8" Hi Fi type drivers for sale a while ago--may be worth PMing him.

Yes, they do look good for home use. And good to see all backed up with proper measurements, etc. |

Do you actually want a PA driver for Hi-Fi?
If you wanted to go for more of a Hi-Fi driver I'm a fan of these: Although they are possibly better suited for the low end, I've not tried running them all the way up to 3kHz. |

Quite a lot of PA drivers measure better than the hifi equivalents for a lot less cash. Tolerances are far tighter in PA world, because you have something to compare against, and it needs to go through some form of R&D process for a specific need before release. This isn’t true for all drivers of course, but it’s worth considering. |

Yep, PA drivers can work fine for HiFi. I use B&C DE250s on XT120 horns in my home stereo, with a Seas H1252 below. Crossover around 1kHz - lower than most soft-dome tweeters will allow, and I'm free to crank it - the 8"s will give up first. As always, it's in the implementation. Chris
