there's a J-Box-III now with a balanced mic input - which is nice. Can't believe they are still spelling Probe PORBE but it works okay.

nearfield measurements 30cm from mouth. gated 25ms psychoacoustic smoothing. level is not calibrated and taken indoors. bass/mid crossover is active. high pass for tweeter is passive fourth order with a couple of filters. Vituixcad was great for designing the crossover. slight beaming at 1kHz and a bit of off-axis fingering at 8kHz. But this is pretty well behaved.

been listening to it with +3dB at 2.5k and 5k. -4db rolloff from 2kHz to 20kHz and six dB boost to the bass. Sounds great especially vocals. can't wait to test it loud outdoors.

good work Snow.

i could probably design a better synergy horn and i wouldn't even have to keep the design a secret because Danley has patents on this stuff so i could never sell one ...

but for personal use i think these are great.

the main struggle it seems is to get the mids close enough to the horn throat while also keeping the flare rate sufficiently tight for good loading ...

if i was going to build a synergy horn i would maybe use a horn shape like this:

and then put in four of these mid domes in there:

this would probably allow me to use a crossover point closer to 1.5 khz or even higher ... i wouldn't need any front chamber for the mids at all - just cut a 3" hole and mount the dome from the back.

of course the mids would only then be covering 1 octave from 700 hz to 1.5 khz ... but that's why Mark100's synergy horns on DIY are 6-way ... it seems this type of speaker somewhat necessitates more frequency bands than you would normally use ...

i think Mark100 has a 600 hz crossover to the BMS coax ...

i used to sh*t on everything Danley but i had given up on that.  the reality is these Synergy horns are fine - there are only two problems with them:

1 - i haven't invented them myself
2 - somebody else has patented them

"1 - i haven't invented them myself"

I'm truly shocked that you didn't invent them - or at least don't claim to have invented them, like 10 years before Danley, while you were taking a crap in that "Special Needs School" you were at in that Rumanian orphanage where you grew up in the 90's...

i will furthermore admit that my 1st and 2nd choice schools were Columbia and Cornell and the school i ended up going to was my "safe choice" but at least they gave me full scholarship

the reason i didn't get into my 1st choice schools despite being a top student and swimming team captain is i didn't know i had to put in my letter that i am a Jew and how my family fought the Nazis and how i have PTSD from "the holocaust" and so on ...

by contrast i dated a retarded prostitute who did put all of that stuff in and got into an Ivy League university for her masters ...

the reason i didn't put that stuff in my letter is because my sadist father tricked me into believing that everybody was an antisemite and that i had to keep being a Jew a secret even though 90% of Harvard Professors are Jews and it's the same in every other top school and if i put it in the letter nobody would even read past that line and just accept me ...

i had friends go to Columbia, Harvard and Yale that didn't have my credentials but obviously did a better job on their letter ...

is it a certain phase in life when your kind becomes obsessed with toilet humor ?  do you like gather with your buddies to talk about toilets and try to out-disgust each other ?

Yup.

In life, there is little more important than a good sense of humour, but sometimes there is a limit.

And in honour of our good friends forefathers, that the Romans, quite rightly, sent off on their way after all the grief they spread everywhere....

LOL LOL LOL
