The ultra drive is fine, powersoft amps aren't a ballsy as QSC PLs and s/hand turbo is big bang for buck..

I have run 21s under tms 4 in the past in a 125/30 band and IMHO the depth of the 21 is better than the TSE, but I have also used my 718s with my tms 4 and IMHO the 718 has the same depth as a single 21" with a lot more punch.

With secondhand 721 going for as lo as £500+Vat they are a very tempting option, ideally run off a PL 6.0 or better....

I am told the funktion 1 121 is pretty much equal to 2 turbo ones and uses neo mags so more back freindly...

I have just built 2 1/2 718 boxes to sit under my tms4s and they are having there first outing tommorow.. Upstair gig my decision to use 15mm not 18 makes me so happy..

:-)

Yeah, I've used them... Very lo, warm, gutsy...

But HUGE! and to be honest not one of turbos finer moments, most were load with a fane driver that was notorious for magnets slipping on it. I don't know if they ever sorted this or went to a PD driver but to be honest these boxes are not good at fast bass at all, the 21 got sl*gged for this but if you don't run it out to 180 hz (flash/flood spec) it is fine, the 24s were real lo shakers, used them under tms-3s run off QSC EX4000 and they do produce some serious lo end but not a practical touring or giging box I feel.....

I would suggest this... use the TSE 218s as a bass cab 80Hz upwards with the 21's underpinning them handling sub freq. 24.8 Hz butterworth- 80Hz Linkwitz. If your TSE 218s have the original LS1802 3" voice coil PD manufactured drivers they are a bit weak and do tend to suffer from failure with 'modern' dance music program. You could try replacing these with a PD188 which is quite similar to the turbo LS1804 used in the 718 bin which has double suspension and 4" voice coil. There is also an issue with that the 2 18" share the same cavity within the enclosure, The TSE 118  overcomes this and multiples of these sound far better than the dual versions. Maybe try adding some time alignment say 1-2ms on the 21's.

or just use the 21"s upto 90Hz with the TMS 4's or 3's with a big amp (900W per driver min) as the voice coil mass on the 21" driver is massive and needs plenty of power to get them going.

cheers

PD184 - Rout the handles on your TSE218 - CHECK the holes line up on the T nuts!!
XTA - THE ONLY WAY
FFA Amps
1:stack the bins so mouths sum ie make one big mouth
2:Don't butt the TMS4's together you need about a 4" gap between the fronts with the backs touching
3: TMS3 & 4 have completly different path lenghts - except the 10" mid - DON'T run them together unless on different drive / amp channels so you can time align them

Have fun

We trialed the TSW721 with a TMS3, the cabinet was loaded with a MKII PD21" driver.

The result was the cabinet loving anything from 35 to 150hz. . and me having some ear wax removal from the spl LOL ... tested in a friend house.

I am having a second cabinet made next week to trial a pair. . keep ya posted.
