Hi

I need 4 small subwoofers, that is easy to stack. I don’t want to start my own Building project, and really don’t want to spend the cost for as an example Coda G15 subwoofers.

I have an idea: what if I did buy some The Box Pro Achat 115 subwoofers from Thomann, they have a perfect size. Well built, and ‘good looking’.
Next I would buy some new 15” drivers to replace the ones that from fabric is already installed in Achat 115.

My question: any one that have tried this, and have some advise on what drivers to use?

And second: anyone with recommandations on other replacement drivers for other The Box speakers.

Regards
Hans

ye olde 15TBX100 is surely a winner :)

those thomann pro speakers are good. the drivers they come with will probably serve you well til you save up for a replacement set

The TBX100 was actually on my list for a speaker that might work.
Its not that I don’t want to spend a lot of money, it’s more that this secondary setup won’t be used a lot. Maybe 3-5 times pr year. So the optimal approach would be to rent something these rare times. But thats also the boring approach…

it's a great driver, would be my first choice!

there'll be an RCF "L" series driver that will be good in there too, can't think which it is off the dome though.

how many cabs u thinking to get?

Plan on getting 4, 2 stacked pr side. Together with a set of passive Dynacord TS400 tops, the high end Vertical Array column speaker.
Run by a Lab fp10000q and XTA processor.

The thomman drivers are pretty good. I don’t see the point in changing them. For the cost you might as well buy more of the 115’s from thomann or build a proven design that works with a better driver.

yeh wot wessexman said, just get more now with the money you'd spend upgrading the drivers.

might even be a blackfriday saving to be had?
