Hello!

Im planning on building 2 18" hog scoops for a DUB and DNB soundsystem and im looking at 3 different PD drivers.

PD.185NR1
PD.185C003
PD.1851/2

I was planning on going for the PD.185NR1 which is the more expensive Neodymium choice.
But there are some differences (stiffer?) and now im not sure if this wold be better or worse..
Do you guys have any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

PD1851 is a good choice in hogs, stiff cone/high BL is ideal.

Thanks! PD.185C003 wins in the BL spec tho so that one would be the best? are there other differences that would be of major importance?

Won't be much of a system, with only 2x Scoops

Next I saw no mention of sub amp.

That needs deciding first.

If you are contemplating cheap crap, no reason for pointless discussion about big man drivers.

They don’t exactly look like the ideal solution bud. Unless there’s a fairly big secret with them I’d look elsewhere.

What about a second hand Powersoft? K8 of k10 can be had for fairly sensible money now :)

Good for driving small fullrange boxes. But not a powerhungry sub..
They barely can handle full tilt in 4ohm stereo. Really shait amps..

If your budget wont stretch to powersoft then a Second hand vz5000 or crest ca18 will give u plenty of sub notes with the hogs pd 1851 loaded. As mentioned before. No point buying cheap amps for big boy drivers.

This.

Maybe better buying 4x solid, used, well built hogs.

Then maybe 4x used, mint condition 1851s.

Then used, working CA18 or 5000VZ, or 2x Proline 3000 to bridge, and 1u limiter.

Upgrade to K20, when gigs have paid for it.

Or even Better... Used macrotech 5000, and let your savings settle a little bit longer, and get a Lab PLM.. nighty-night to the powersoft and hellow to superb lows Clap

And forget about running bridge. If you need more power, get more amps 🙂

Care to explain how you load drivers onto more amps and get (significantly) more power, without using bridge mode? (Impedance vs output watts etc.)

Think about it Tongue

If he can Locate Void Infinite 8MK2, that would be plenty enough, for 4x Scoops, for 2x years, and then buy which ever big boy lightweight he wants.

LOL
