although its normal to load 1850s with pd or void there must be a cheaper alternate driver that could be used . has anyone ever tried a different driver other than these that reach the specs needed ?

the void really is a fairly cheap driver for what you're expecting.

The 1850 horn was designed for....... the PD1850, which is a very heavy duty driver. The Void driver is a cheaper alternative.
The bottom line is that there is no such thing as a cheap heavy duty driver, capable of handling the loading in that horn. If you can't afford a suitable driver I'm afraid you'll just have to look at a different cabinet. In general, drivers capable of withstanding horn loading are more expensive. |

![]() Cheaper alternative, would be used PD1850s, V18-1000s. For 186 Horn, "maybe" worth considering used Turbomax 1000/Fane 18-1000. |

yeah was thinking the fane 18b600/800. Recomended driver for the Invader Horn by Nineleaves. But won't do 30hz in the bigger stacks reliably. For this Nineleaves recommended stepping up to PD1850 or Fane 1000/1500 (in invader). But 40hz fine for 18b. 18b600/800 has the high EBP of the 1850. This is what your looking for if your trying to reproduce sound of the 1850. Fane 1000/1500 both lower EBP so more hifi sound.

However 18B, just doesn't have the Xmax or BL to handle high power input whilst staying in control.
