Cheers Njw,  that makes me feel more comfortable,  although gee electronics quoted only £20 to look at it. The only thing that looks that it got hot is the driver transistor as it happens.  Thanks though,   will post up pics when it's fixed (and thoroughly cleaned)...Embarrassed

p.s what amps do you use now?

I was looking at those 3 PPX's but they were too far away from me to go and get them. Try moving the bridge switch back and forth a few times, I've had one of mine loose a channel before and just dirty contacts on the bridge switch was the problem. I have 17 PPX amps, every model in the range.

My 'go to' amps are a triplet of C Audio XR3801's, they may be heavy and not particularly powerful on paper by todays standards but they just keep on chugging it out (much like a ppx!).Smile

Remember to put the mono link cable in first!, had to disassemble again...

Top and bottom have been cut back and painted,  always go rusty...

Thanks gaz  Handshake I'll give that a try later,   that will save me a bunch if it works.  I do like to bridge them but would'nt risk it if a channel was dodgy.

The guy selling them had a unit full of old amps piled on top of each other,  including a really big studiomaster,  he was desperate to sell everything  but I only wanted to stick to the citronics,  even if they were all broke would fix them up one after the other.  One of the other 450's has a low level buzz on both channels, it does'nt affect the gain in any way but will get it looked at before any shows.

I'll try the switch......Smile
