The boys at FFA said 8004 is a completely new circuit as a result of 2 years work so maybe they got some input from XTA. I wonder if the DSP is top notch.

Well, that is one way to say it i guess :) DSP is from NST audio so it is good and solid performer. I think FIR filters are on the roadmap. NST is also old XTA people.

I was thinking doing FIR with Lake LM26 or Linea ASC48. You think Lake is still the top dog with that ancient hardware platform? You know by the time you add Lake and FFA8004 together it’s probably going to cost more than the APA 4E6 LOL. High end audio is like chasing tails.

What do you mean by 'doing FIR'? It's not some magic thing you just press a button and bam it's better. Lots of people seem to think that and well, many have literally ruined their speakers by trying that. If you want to use the tQ Level 1 FIR processing, you need to ask Fulcrum to support the platform. If they don't, then buy one they do support. It's that simple. Also Lake is far from top dog, it's just entrenched. Edited by toastyghost - 06 October 2018 at 5:29pm |
