Chameleon Studio One as new. Never used.   Slightly better build than older versions.  Getting the top cover back on is a right pain having to line up the cage nuts to top cover holes!

Doesn't look like a squirrel's nest after a tornado and the transformer isn't just held in with silicone? Does it even deserve the name "Chameleon"? LOL

Those chameleon witn push button volume controls 2000 series were awful. The 4th time of replacing the thermistor I got rid. Dreadful amps thosel things they were.

If I saw one in the skip I would leave it there. Not worth effort to scrap it.

Do they not still use the Sanken output devices? They would be worth having out of them.

As far as the one I posted above in green, a £30 fan and a thermostatic controller for it seems to have addressed the thermal issue. I think most of the thermal issue was them trying to derive fan speed from input signal level not actual device temperature...

Mr. Hill does seem to be one of those designers that like to live on the edge & do some really odd things that make no sense & ultimately destroy their reputation. Like the LC series of amps, with a transformer coupling the O/P stage. I really can't see the advantage of that.

Maybe he was trying to out-Carver Bob Carver!  LOL

My 22 year old self 28 years ago didn't know they had sanken output. It's good to know they have something good in them. I moved on to Yamaha p series which were solid as a rock.

If saw a chameleon in the skip now you have told me this my 50 year old self  would probably leave them there due to risk of sepsis. Find someone else to get it out for me maybe Wink

When I see them on fleabay I get PTSD of them going down mid gig.

Zeck A900 this one have two different chanels, one is full quassi complementary even in driver stage and one is Bimos....however the 6 outputs for each ch are the same RCA MJ15003....The bimos ch was working fine (left ch) the right ch however totally dead...all capacitors we're done...25-50r esr, 30% voltage loss...bad solderings etc...after full recap etc the amp is working fine providing 44vrms in 4R at 30hz with perfect sinwave both ch the same, the reservoir Siemens capacitors are 40 years old and still measure 11.000Uf and an ESR of 0,12 and 0,14 :) amazing!
