I'm searching for amps (1300€) for high mids. I used for some time the FFA 8004 but now I need to find something else.
Some people suggested me MC2 e 25 o an equivalent lab gruppen fp. Some T-amps from Thomann somehow seems to be an option cause their are cheap and people say they are pretty reliable and for the price the sound is good. some gave some advice for what amp is best around this Budget or if u can truly hear some deference between this amps?

You can absolutely hear the difference between amps! Out of that lot I would choose the MC2. Lovely sounding amps especially for mid/HF.
I've always found the Tamps a bit noisy and certainly wouldn't be my choice for mid/HF. FFA 8004 is nice though, Shane you can't keep it!

T-Amp's shouldn't even been in discution!! Only good for small bbq home party with some chinese speakers as well as the amps! Better go with DAP Audio if you go cheap or C-Mark,same cheap craps but the build quality and parts far better than T-Amp! If you have money obviously MC2 or have a look at Linea Research as well!

Yup, MC2/Funktion One E series amps are great for mid high. I prefer the sound of Class AB amps where huge power and low frequencies aren't required. I use Crest Audio CA4s for UMF/HF.

Crest audio is no more, since 2000 is owned by Peavey Inc,so under any Crest nowdays is just a Peavey crap rebadged,Crown is no more as well, sold many years ago to Harman, and Harman is owned by Samsung at the moment....the last good Crown Amplifiers were MacroTech series,EV?!? What about them?? Never been a name in Pro Audio!

I don't think Lab ever made such power amplifiers in class AB,for high power output they used TD class.

You can go up to E30 in class AB. E series are discontinued as of last year, according to the MC2 website.. Edited by Lucasdude - 01 June 2025 at 6:19pm |

Have you thought about Dynacord L series/EV P series?
I can highly recommend Dynacord L2400/EV P3000. No matter if it's sub, mid or hi, they do it great! So nice and smooth sounding regardless of what model from both series. Even at clipping they still sound great. Talk about a great piece of kit!

For many years I have used Lab1600's with some success, great sound, very reliable. Probably quite affordable if you can find some.
