About to try some idea's, and wondering if anyone out there modified any plans they had seen/superscooper, without completely re-modelling horn section and had success by trial/error/ear.
E.g subtle mods to: scooper to work better with drivers other than V18, enlarge chamber/throat, by moving baffle or other internals, mod for o/p to be flatter in 2's/4's. Been spending far too long on hornresp, and want other peoples different perspectives/physical results on this. Edited by levyte357 - 03 May 2007 at 2:20pm |

Model of tuning Scooper18 for V18 with:
Throat reduced from 792 to 615 (1/2 Sd) Front Chamber reduced from 44l to 34l SPL Plot is Horn o/p only for clarity.. Hopefully above mods require no changes to actual horn, by just moving rear baffle. Comments/Corrections anyone? ![]() |

very nice levyte,
i have super scoops v-18 loaded, rear baffle moving would not work well i think because there is not much space behind the driver and the baffle, maybe a bigger triangle reduces throat and chamber?! |

Reducing the chamber by 22% (e.g moving baffle forward) gives us 34.34l chamber, and approx 617cm2 throat ( I think..). ![]() The rear baffle is originally 202mm from inside of front baffle. (256 - 18 - 36). Reducing chamber by 22% means rear baffle distance from front baffle of 202 * 0.78 = 157.56mm. ![]() As can be seen from pic. V18 is 169mm deep from inside edge. If We use double size front baffle (36mm instead of 18mm), this will remove 18mm of V18 depth = 151mm So we would have 157.56 - 151 = approx 6mm clearance between V18 magnet and baffle in reduced scoop. Comments/Corrections please. Edited by levyte357 - 06 May 2007 at 8:05pm |
