Hi All, I bought these speakers over a decade ago off an old guy who built them. Laminated curves and stuff, was a complicated build he told me. He said the plans were from a magazine from the 70's and thought it were RCF plans. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3qkkpwo6vfuekpztuf5if/IMG_20240414_123927063_MFNR.jpg?rlkey=9auvau7jlu08kzqkgirtqoss5&st=vya2var6&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5rds2413hpy4h7kizmg47/IMG_20240414_123939364_MFNR.jpg?rlkey=ebnx1yrde5l7gwlr7k3zesjr8&st=s7xavy2w&dl=0 Now I always wondered what they are, original specs/ drivers, ... He placed other speakers in them so no guide there. It's a 12", 10" and the tweeter. Active filter 800Hz between the 12" and the 10"+tweeter (have a passive filter, freq unknown) (cant seem to get the pictures or hyperlink to work the way I want with the BBcodes)

in the 70's and 80's many companies shared free plans in the hope people bought their speakers. this is propably one of their more complex concepts. never seen one though so cannot help you any more. placing of the tweeter seems a bit odd. no crossovers with information to help you out?

yep a botch job on the retrofitted tweeter btw... I'll look for the best way to find speakers specs for an unknown cabinet... Or would I better start looking for something else to go on top of 3x startec H/R118 and 1x Martin Fake2B stack...

What drivers do they have? That may be a clue - or at least help you decide what to do with the cabs. Do they sound any good? And could (vaguely) be an ASS design - altho' finish looks a bit rough. |

Could it be a modified EV MTH2? There are a few similarities - even using Google Lens - it would have been a reasonably simple mod to double up the low mid section especially as EV used to supply plans back in the day.

For sidefills, can we have two enormous things of a type that might be venerated as Gods by the inhabitants of Easter Island, capable of reaching volumes that would make Beelzebub soil his pants.

They are 50cm in front I remember, I had them stacked on punishers with same width kick inbetween. Tonight I'll open them up and check what's to find on the inside

Check the crossover, drivers and inside of the cabs for marks and information. Most smaller builders leave such traces. Like “reconed 1987 eglantier” which would point to an early AED service.

Yes, you never know. There might be some treasure in there -- like an old Gauss, or ATC driver. ![]() Worse bodge in the world is that tweeter. ![]() |
