Afternoon all!
Just getting into doing public address systems at large sports events and i'm wondering if there are decent wireless options out there? At the moment i'm running CAT5 cables to remote stage boxes. So a couple of questions... A) Is it possible to link my digital desk (GLD80) to a stage rack (AR2412) via wifi? will it be stable enough? B) Or am I better off sending the audio source via a decent wireles IEM system? Looking at covering 130 meters. I would like to have multiple lines so I can delay the sound acordingly, but running cat5 on one job is looking tricky. Cheers Jim Edited by Jimmer - 31 March 2018 at 12:26pm |

No latency issues with IEM's, wifi devices will have to buffer the audio, minimum o abot 45ms but somewhat more for smooth playback I would think.

I think IEM system looking favorite. Allen Heath say connecting a stage box via wifi is a no go...

If you're ever in a pinch and need a quick and dirty extra channel of wireless, S/PDIF (and therefore probably AES3 as well) transports quite nicely on the video channel of a 2.4 or 5.8GHz video sender system. Like the cheap ones you can (could.....) get from Maplin, to send your Sky TV upstairs.
No redundancy, no error correction, line of sight only, sometimes spits out noise on loss of signal - but when it works - it works pretty damn well!
