Hello!

My friend has an old speaker, with the brand ”August, London, England”. We have tried to find info on the speaker with no luck. Does anyone have any idea about the origins of this speaker? Here’s the link to a picture w. logo of the speaker:

Thanks!

p.s. The forum posted my link weirdly, with two of them. Editing didn’t correct the problem..

Link is not working. I'm curious because we used to own a pair of August bins back in 1985. They were w-bins if my memory serves me well. Unfortunately made of chip board and basically disintegrated on us.

August was a later branding of Simms-Watts.

When they switched their 'Musical Bargain Centre' from
South Ealing Road (in Ealing W5 believe it or not) to
The Grove in Ealing, they launched their August range.

I remember that I had one of their disco consoles back
in the early-mid 70s, complete wih SP25 decks and touch
cueing, rather than pressing a button, on the August
mixer, LOL

Run by Dave Simms and the shop manager was Chris,
who I believe went to on to co-found CP Cases and (misty
memory here) was something to do with Mega as well.
If your vaccinations were mandatory and nobody in your class had measles,
then you know that you're not a Millenial kid.
