I use software called second copy. Its about 30 dollars though but I would whole heartedly recommend it.

Very easy to understand and can tailor it exactly to what you need.
For example I get it to back up my photo folder every night at 9pm, it will scan the folder and see what has changed then do an incremental backup.

Its very minimal and you hardly know its there!

Not sure if you want to backup files to a network drive,

or backup a complete network drive as an image.

Anyway have a look at these:

Synctoy is free from “Microsoft”

Drive image is free for a home licence.

I just use the built-in Windows Backup utility which is happy backing up to a network drive.  Or are you wanting to back up a network drive to some other media?

I’m assuming you are using Windows, sorry I didn’t ask!

Is the source drive a mapped drive on another computer or server, or is it a NAS?

Either way as “Chris” said, providing the drives are available and mapped then  “Windows backup” may be easier.

This is what I use, unless I want to (sync/copy/echo) folders to some thumb drives.
I which case I use “Synctoy” as the files stay as files and not an image!

For an identical copy of a drive, I use the “drive to drive” function on “Driveimage XML”.

But this will only work on drives physically connected to the same computer.

I use this to back-up my workstation files to a Raid 1 NAS, maybe not the best way to do it but it works for me and is simple to use,
