Hi - I'm looking at building 4 1850 horns using B&C 18" drivers - has anyone used them for these cabs and are there any pointers as to how to get the best out of them? They'll be used to fill out the bottom end for hard dance/hard house music, likely to be powered by C-Audio amps. Any help appreciated!!

Hi,

That driver would be more suited to the 186 horn, as it has a Qts of 0.31. For bass horns like the 1850, which have a small rear chamber, you need a driver with a Qts of around 0.20, otherwise the driver will tear apart under high power levels.

Do you already have the drivers? If not, its worth concidering the Void V18-1000 driver for the 1850 horns.

Jamie

Cheers Jamie - not got the drivers yet so will look into the Void ones as well. If I do go for the B&C units, it'll be the 186 horns instead then!!

On a not entirely unrelated note, how well will a pair of stacks of  2 x 186 horns and 1 x MT1202's go?

Do you mean the MT102 or MT122? I assume you are looking to build the MT122, in which case, have a look at these http://www.proaudioparts.co.uk/index.php?id=pornhorn
