Heyho,
i just checked the new speaker designs on bcspeakers.com and found this:

http://www.bcspeakers.com/PDF/SUGG/SGG_55.pdf

It´s a BR cabinet for 2x 18" Subs with 2 seperated chambers.
The upper chamber is like 30% smaller than the lower one.
Also they have different length reflex channels.

Has enyone ever seen (or ever heard) an attempt like that?
Why are they doing that?
I don´t suppose, they intend the user to split the frequencies between the 2 speakers, do they?
How about the bass reflex delay? Will it still match inspite of the different sizes?

All my live I´ve lived by the golden rule to never stack different Subs on the same freq. band.
was i wrong?

Thanks for input, Al

I maybe wrong but I'm pretty sure both chambers are tuned around 39 htz. The lower chamber is bigger but has a smaller port, also there is approx 4.5 Ltrs of wheel space to deduct!

so...including ports:
Vb top = approx 133
Vb Bottom = approx 170

I had already simmed the bottom part of this cab for a single cab project.
The plot for each chamber superimpose each other.

All of the new high power drivers have a dip at around 70Hz so maybe they tuned them diferently to compensate this.

Okay, thanks for the input.
So all in all, do you think it makes sense?
The lower chamber woul probably have stronger infra bass response.
Does the upper chamber then deliver a better kickbass?
Up to what frequency would you drive these babies?
Can i possibly abandon my 15" midbasses, when using those subs?

B&C don't seem to say much about this design, other than it's a "Subwoofer"!

B&C FAQ:

Does B&C offer design assistance for speaker cabinets?

Sorry, but we do not offer design support beyond the simple speaker
cabinet designs available in the “Resources” section of our web site.

B&C 18NW100: If i've simmed it correctly.
Red top/Blue Bottom chamber. Ports calculated using cross sectional area and length.

Combined sub & kick cab bi-amped, is an interesting idea!
I'm just looking at the the sub atm.
