If you used tapped horns with the tbx you could mitigate the overheating somewhat , since the magnets are open air. Considerably more complicated but way more sensitive too. I would like to hear 4x proper TH (like sound agency th1821) head to head against 4 mini scoops, same amount of watts.

Seems couple of posts, regarding Scoops were removed from this thread, strange.

I guess I won't be posting for a while then.

That's strange, I haven't done anything. Just wanted a friendly discussion.
Also an udpate: i've decided to go with some hefty class H Crest amplifiers. I love the sound of them and i think they will be able to deliver the real power the boxes will need.

I've always liked the look of the way the B&C 18TBW100's model in a fair sized ported box. The alignment that B&C suggests sim well (200 litres, tuned just above 30hz), and ts parameters are ideally suited to BR cabs generally.

They appear to be equipped with essentially the same cone/suspension as the SW etc, xmax is a decent 12mm, and xlim allegedly 57mm. They're also relatively cheap, in comparison to the SW and DS etc. Maybe worth looking at?

I'm paying off a few of these, I have an old EV reflex cabinet (tx1181) that I am using as a test enclosure and just one in my studio sounds absolutely bonkers. Also, feature of the tbw is 4 ohm version so more efficient=less money on amps.

Personally I don't know what I'm building and have been scouring plans for months. Tempted to do skrams, mini-scoops,  th1821's, still have no idea really.  I would like a very efficient speaker for limited electrical circuit. But people sure do seem to dunk on reflex for bass a lot, tapped horn would go with the kick design I'd like to do but I've never heard one,  Scoops seem nice but maybe not as aggressive as tapped horn, more genre locked, also harder to build for a beginner

This doesn't really make sense to me. If BR is really that bad why do pretty much all pro audio company make bass reflex 🤔

I'm not toooo bothered with efficiency. I care more about out high quality, deep, heavy bass. The 32A distro i plan to get will give me plenty of juice to play with.

You're right, this driver looks quite good on paper. Looks like a TBX but with more power handling and excursion. I will have a mess around in hornresp to see what the models look like. Out of curiosity I've reached out to B&C to see what they recommend.

The tbw is best sounding driver I also have a tbx, it definitely is like the tbx and models very similar just tbw is... better power handling, more excursion, leads are woven into the spider, however tbx is still relevant and capable and sounds great. Highly recommend either from what ive heard. If you are set on going bass reflex direction (I wouldn't blame you)  might consider either of these,

18sound designs always get good reviews,  if I had more amps and not just a 20amp circuit id maybe spring for less efficient reflex esp in a smaller space. I especially like this 18sound tower 1x18 design

we have used  these boxes in  installs over the years , we have loaded with fane xb ,pd 186 and b&C tbx100 with great results . the venue had 6, 3 a side , when i ever did drum and bass nights , i would take 2 scoops in steve b design ,1850 loaded  and they demolished all 6 , if you want to complete with 4 premium  scoops, 12 singles sw115 loaded  would be about right or 6 doubles as long as they are powered correctly  imho
