Seems couple of posts, regarding Scoops were removed from this thread, strange.

I guess I won't be posting for a while then.

I think the forum reverted to a back up. It happened to all threads the other day.

Personally i'd go 21" reflex. Not much difference in driver price and box would still be small.

This doesn't really make sense to me. If BR is really that bad why do pretty much all pro audio company make bass reflex 🤔

I'm not toooo bothered with efficiency. I care more about out high quality, deep, heavy bass. The 32A distro i plan to get will give me plenty of juice to play with.

There are a few reasons really. Cost, portability and predictability to name a few. If you're a massive touring company putting on concerts, you need to know that whatever venue you go into the characteristics of the box will be the same. Hornloaded bass in the right environment and tuned correctly has it's obvious advantages, but if you want to know that the kit is going to behave the same way no matter where you are reflex is the way. Need more bass = add more boxes. Same goes for the mobile DJ stuff.

I hear you and agree. I've build my knowledge in a separate way, only recently been getting into clashes and have yet to attend, as I am "out of the way"... But i've love to put together an adequate system to start a local scene, or inspire other people to build... but there isn't even much of an electro/dub/edm there are like crappy local house djs Lol anyway Im much more into dub, ragga, grime, heavy stuff that sings on big systems, but reflex sounds great indoors! I don't knock it and I like the sound, albeit more distortion from more cone movement. I have no idea I'd just like to attend more events and have more of an opinion because I have to dig deep to think when I've heard folded horn, apart from some I own..

But to each his own. I'd like to be prepared for a clash if it ever needs to happen, I feel like strolling in with some hifi-centric reflex stack i'd get walked on, but not SQ wise,

Think we can acutely summarize the conclusion of this thread, by saying no 18" driver, exists, that will enable 4x BCSub18 design cabs, cabs, to compete with 4x industrial grade Scoops.

And I have to say, if original poster, had read back posts of Scoop Forum, for half a day, he would have come to this conclusion, by the 2nd day.

This is one of the problems with this forum now, people join up, and quickly ask questions, that were answered 15x years ago.

Could I trouble you with another annoying question mate? What are the simplest scoop to build as someone who hasn't done woodworking? I've heard eminence or hugo.. or maybe I'll sign up for a local CNC collective and let the robots handle it

First thing I would suggest is, you decide which drivers you intend to use,

Then find out best Scoop designs for them.

These discussions belong in the Scoop Forum, not General Forum.

A word of caution.
The scoop forum is dominated by highly competitive people who sometimes give information that will throw you off course regarding the 'ultimate scoop'.
Take your time to read through it extensively and take special note of deleted posts in long discussions. The clues, counter intuitively, lie there.
Have nice day.......

An update for for everyone and anyone reading this:
I have updated my design. And am now building 6x reflex 21s instead of 18s. Using the B&C 21SW115. As was pointed out by luton_soundman, the drivers are not much more expensive, and the box is only slightly bigger. so its a bit of a no brainer.
Running some designs in hornresp shows an infintely better output than the 18SW115. So this is what im going for. All my ply arrived today and am excited to get building.

Will let you know how it all sounds once its built :)

Is there not an official B&C design for the 21SW115?

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I'm sure it would be relatively easy, to modify existing mini scoop design, to be optimal, for the  21SW115..

I personally don't like miniscoops. They are much bigger than reflex boxes. Yes they are very punchy and loud. But lack the LF extension that I require.

The 21SW115 has a recommended reflex volume and port size on B&C's website. Mine is sort of halfway inbetween that and a SUB18. The graphs look very similar. I'm confident it will be bangin :)

To each their own, and I know many PA dudes, who hate all things Scoopy, but then I have also heard 18NLW9601 loaded mini scoops, with LF extension at high SPL, that made my mouth water, so it is all down to personal tastes.
