yeah, still need to get hold of a 9 pin straight through cable, after finding one that wasn't wired straight through.

IIRC my version is 1.14, Strange Daze is 1.16.

sounds like dan's has still got version 1.2 of the firmware on it. download 1.3 from the berry site and upgrade over 9 pin serial cable using the dcx remote software. i love the way behringer claim that this new version of the software eliminates the dropping out between filter modes and delay points etc... my arse it does! but yeah, one thing it does do is make about 7% more processing power appear from nowhere.

IM ABSOLUTELLY BUZZING WTH MY NEW BERRY DRIVERACK.
AND SEEMS THEYVE BEEN UPDATED.....AFTER PLAYING ABOUT WITH MINE AND DANS A FEW GIGS AGO.....I FOUND MINE HAD 7% MORE PROCESSING LEFT THAN SOUNDSYSTEMDANS, AFTER APPLYING THE SAME EQs AND CROSSOVERS ETC.

The only product I know behringer went to court over was their MX8000 desk, which bore an uncanny resemblance to the mackie 8 bus series! I think they settled out of court, and produced the MX9000 instead, which was still damn near the same by all accounts!
 
With regards to the DCX, mine has had it's ribbon cable replaced, and it had a cracked PCB which lowered the output of channel 6 by about 15dB on their scale. I had it fixed by one of the Allen &Heath service agents in Cheshire, which was annoying, but no frying egg problems so far (touch wood)
 
Has anbody else had an output go quiet on them?

Yes, you obviously have to take the connector apart to free the existing cable but thats it.

No soldering skills required. Simply reuse the one header that is fixed to the PCB and replace the header fixed to the cable (I obtained my new ones from Maplins 13 pin DIL ).

To remake the connections in the IDC's I used a block of wood under the PCB and gently tapped the top of the connector untill the cable is fully seated.

For the cable I just cut some floppy drive cable to the required width (26 conductors) and length.

If a dumb bugger like me can do it it shows it must be simple.

p.s. The fact that just replacing the cable and not touching the soldered  headers is what makes me think that the problem has lain with the cable all along.

As this thread has been revived I am happy to report that the two Ultradrives on which I replaced the ribbon and headers have both been perfect since.
On one of the units it had previously refused to go more than about 2 weeks without either a channel cutting out or the "frying tonight" sign coming out.

Result!!

You need a PCMIA to Flash Convertor...

Luckily I had one lying around from an old palmtop we used to have. I think the DCX can only utilise 4mg of any memory card.

I've just had a DCX come, and it was apprently manufactured in April of this year. So we will see how it fars!

Shame it doesn't have a blue screen! >.<

now then,

I admit I'm hijaking this thread so all you who have already replied get an email, sneaky me.

I'm after a PCMCIA card for my ultradrive to store settings on. I've tried searching the 2 biggest PC bits shops in Manchester (Micro direct and Aria) only to find things that plug into PCMCIA but aren't memory things.

Can someone please point point me in the direction of what I'm looking for?

you can build something that looks like a competitors (how many cars look the same?) and just say that through your design process, form followed function and that was the result

as long as inside something is different, (a chip, a couple of resistors and a few changes to track layout etc) all's good

patents are a different matter entirely

they are having problems in the states at the moment however
