So tonight we must have been in a very slim percentage of unluckyness.
Took a x air 16 out on a job and was fine during the Sound checks etc. Ten minutes before doors it lost connectivity via WiFi and refused to connect via lan. Replaced it with a spare x air 12 we have and this crapped out straight away and would t connect. They’ve worked faultlessley 3 out of 4 weekends for the last 13 months. Any one else had similar issues with them? , |

Same thing happened to my dad with his band at a big wedding last year. I was engineering at the time, luckily we had a spare Mackie DL1608. We haven't trusted the unit again since and now just use it for small events or in the studio.
The Mackie has never let us down though. Being able to dock it makes it safer when the wifi goes down. Sell it and get a Mackie mate lol |

Had a read up and the issue maybe our fault.
The apps upto date but not the firmware on the unit and apparantly they don’t like each other when there not both up to date, been a major pain, traveled a 2 hour round trip for the other one not to work either Lesson learnt |

If your app is running a newer version then it does create issues. Always make sure you have flashed the firmware.
We use an external router (only a sky one) and it works faultless Got a Mackie dl32r as well and connection was an issue on that until we got it configured to static ip's |

Ok so after having a fresh look today
The tablet & laptop both running older versions inline with the firmware as neither go online at all. Everything working fine today. What has been pointed out is the rack was sat bang at the side of a tsw718 playing flat out most the night, we also had a pair of witless mics which were cheap that had issues that with so we swapped out for a pair of pg58 wireless and they were fine. Could the magnets on the driver cause any such issue? |

It is well known over on this side of the pond that the built-in wireless access point(AP) in these things is sketchy at best and it is always recommended that you use an external AP, and there are a series of best practices that will go a long way to ensuring you have a solid connection all night. These including using the 5ghz band exclusively because 2.4ghz is too crowded, not using DHCP and setting static IPs on the mixer and connected devices that are outside the commonly used range, and even not broadcasting your network because most punters have their phones set to automatically connect to the strongest signal available and that can crash your network when the room fills up. And a wireless connection works best with a clear line of sight so it's always a good idea to position the AP well above head level hanging off a lighting stand for example, I know it is convenient to rack everything together and stuff it in a corner but that is pretty much the worst possible position for it.

I appreciate that conanski, but this was sat 6” above the unit and didn’t move all night, sketchy or not, there must still be some other reason that it lost connection and wouldn’t re connect

The cheap mics were channel 70 - we thought we’d get away with them.
We were deffo wrong, had to have one of the lads nip back for the shure rack and also the x air 12 |
