Historically, Straight horns utilising a 12 inch driver for high mids and a straight horn utilising a 15 inch driver  for low mids. Such a combination is usually overkill for just two Scoops. So, one straight horn utilising a 12 inch driver will be more than enough for the job.

Anything resembling the old Altec 816 would be fine.

"The Sonos Studio in Los Angeles on Tuesday made the announcement of the introduction of a new exhibition which will highlight the sound system element of Jamaican music culture."

Since you do not live in the United States, I will tell you this is merely a company trying to make a profit on Non-Jamaicans. Any true Jamaican Sound man would disregard that article in the Gleaner off the mere fact of having a Funktion-One stack pictured as a means of reference.

I moved away from Scoops decades ago. However, you cannot state Jamaican Sound System culture and not include Scoops. Scoops have synonymous with Jamaican Sound Systems since the days people used to walk around wearing beepers.

Best Regards,

Even some simple sealed double 12in or reflex do fine too, with high-sensitivity drivers will play clean and loud...

Keep it authentic imho...  also i would not certainly using that pic Funktion-One pics for reference , far as away as possible that is..from a Reggae stack

For oldies  (1950ies&60ies) it would be 4520 straight to 2350 horns with 075 compression drivers and maybe some 2405 tweeters on top.......

Check the deep roots documentary, it has a segment about count machuki, they are vibing in front of such a stack

Or Jensen imperials with an old Vitavox/Altec multicell horn on top, have a look on google image search for "vintage reggae soundsystem",is some great black and white photos on there from the 50's, 60's and early 70's.
Be seeing you.

I didn't read the question as 'what Would a vintage reggae sound use for mids and tops?'
I read it to mean, what would reproduce vintage reggae music and be best to do that?
If so, I'd answer.... Get the best you could afford. Recently heard a lovely 3way cab. X2 12", two smallish comps and 3 chippers (beymer I think)
Sound man was playing Blue Beat, Studio 1 etc. Sounded fantastic. Play on vintage gear, and hear modern production in a vintage style.
That is not to disrespect those with lovely vintage sounds (and being tha proud owner of vintage gear myself)
Freedom of choice, choice of freedom.

I can't find the Multicell plans. By the way, what are the recommended drivers for multicell?

Multicells is a Metal horn. You would not build one. Here is the plan of the Altec 816. It was the benchmark for 90% of Jamaican Sound Systems in the 1970's - 1990's. You can retro fit it with a 12 inch driver since it was designed for a 15 inch driver.
