I dont get how a 15 and a comp is common combo but an 18 with an 8 and comp couldn't fill a similar role, with these drivers at least a lot of emphasis would have been on a light responsive assembly.

You need to learn a bit more about dispersion.

True i don't know much about it but how does an extra 3 inches take something from common bass-low mid driver found everywhere to extremely directional above sub bass, i'm here to learn.

Lots of scoops can play low in singles. There are many different designs and drivers. Which have you tried as that will explain your findings.

i was looking at hogs as they are apparently much cleaner than more traditional designs, i do like my dub but i listen mainly electronic so i would like a bit of flexibility. Only reason i'm looking at scoops is efficiency over a reflex box.

I'll have some hogs in a few weeks which you'd be welcome to check out/see how low they go on their ones...if you haven't decided by then anyway!

I did one and put an 18 in in for an experiment years ago. 40hz F3 out of anything horn loaded in singles is difficult. Startec SBH is huge but seems to do it. Minis need EQ to do lower than 45 usually, but that's OK, thats what we do. The link I did for the Micro Scoop is best with a PD1550, it then can run 45 to 100 without kicks, it sounds, "scoopy". No doubt you can eq the hell out of it to get the elusive 40hz but at the end of the day it's a 15. Single non reflex cab for me would be the Tham 15 with the B&C TBX or the Oberton 700 . Not a scoop, not a dirty sound like a scoop, if you want scoops, you want more than one. Only my opinion BTW |
