Dear All,

I currently have 2 X1's with Void 18" Speakers 800w.  I want to put a 15 Upper Bass cab above the X1's.  Void do not seem to do a 15" version of their speaker, could you please suggest a good match please.

Couple of points

a) There is a forum specifically for HD15's you'd probably have more luck there.
b) Part way down the plan are listed the preferred drivers in order.

I've had a quick search to no avail, Rog did suggest a 650W P Audio driver at one stage if you were after a lower cutoff and smoother response, at the expence of SPL, but I can't find it.  Perhaps someone can remember?

From my experience, the C15 500LF sounds much better than the Eminence, which spends its energy vibrating the chassis and the box, rather than pushing loads of air.

Can't really comment as i've not heard anything else in them but i run PD154's that are still breaking in and they keep getting better and better.  Not really low but they start to get really brutal even with 4. Will be running 6 for the first time in a fortnight so well looking forward

Thank you panel, for your comments on the best speakers for HD15.

It looks like I need to save some pennies for PD154.

regards

Nightfire have a PD1850 'beater' in the PR18250 (it's available in US too, so I'm happy, better xmax and EBP than PD1850, at least on paper). Maybe one of their 15" drivers will work in place of the PD154, compare the specs, and compare the prices and see what you get.

depends how you're running them, and with how many

if you want to use them in a stack with subs, the 154's do sound great, but in hd's used on their own, they can sound a little dry and kicky.

paudio bm15-lf and c15-500lf are both alternatives. the bm15s are really nice when you're using hd's for all your bass, especially in small numbers - the bm drivers are considerably higher qts than the 154s, and have a longer vc and higher xmax. theyre slightly less efficient than the p.d's but going on personal experience they make just as much bass, and the considerably improved low end is worth the ever so slightly less defined kick.

i havent heard the c15, but from the t-s it looks like it'll lie somewhere in between the two others. possibly the best option if you're using the x1s underneath?
