Am becoming increasingly dissappointed with Tiscali, and now looking to change ISP Provider.
Any recommendations/deals/promotions? No rants please, just positive suggestions. Edited by levyte357 - 15 July 2009 at 12:55pm |

I have to say, have been with Tiscali about 2years now,and never had any problems other than it went dead for a day once last year, its ultra-fast (i live only 500yards from the BT telephone exhange) so can download at around 7mbs second..i tried BT's own internet before, and that was pants compared with this.

Just changed from tiscali to talktalk. No problems so far. When I did have problems with tiscali it was an absolute nightmare trying to get any sense out of their help-line.
Talktalk have just taken over Tiscali. Tony |

Hmmm....
I have my mother on Tiscali... customer service is shiiite... but the internet service itself has never been that bad... I wouldn't ever recoomend them tho.
Talktalk.... my god... good luck if you have any tech issues... same with BT (the very worst IMHO).
My reccomendations...
2. www.plus.net
My main concern with ANY ISP is customer service... it's the biggest difference between them all.

I was considering going to TalkTalk, as I know quite a few people with them, and they seem ok.
Moms is on Virgin cable (Ex NTL), and her 8mb line always leaves me drooling. I might wait till I'm moving next, and choose house depending on proximity to BT exchange or Virgin cable availability. |

The Plusnet service is good - even though they were taken over by BT a short while back. I've been with them for five years and have never thought of changing.

Hey any of you guys tried out UTALK.... currently using it right now and I'M VERY VERY HAPPY with the service. Customer support is fabulous ... they are very cheap and they gave me the first month FREE. Referred some of my friends and family members to them and for each person I referred and avails of their service, they gave me FREE LINE RENTAL for a month. 3 of my friends that I referred joined and... well... got 3 months FREE LINE RENTAL. For now I can simply say they are the best. They are a new provider so I believe the lines including broadband are not congested compared to TalkTalk. Website is www.utalk.biz or you can try calling their hotline 0845.174.7500.

I use Freedom2Surf which I know is part of Tiscali now but I've been with them since I started using broadband without any major issues.

Be is nice... 24mb FTW!
I can actually get 50mb in my area.. I can get virgin media fibre service.... but the cost far outweighs my need for superfast broadband at home... as long as the porn streams without jitters I'm fine.. so 10mb will do it.

Spam post alert! This provider just use BT Wholesale Colossus network like plenty of other ISPs, so are subject to the biggest congestion going. I also immediately trust every company that uses Comic blood Sans on their website. Personally, I'd avoid Enta and PlusNet unless you want to be guinea pigs for a horrifically broken BT 21CN/ADSL2+ trial at the moment. |
