Best way to activate windows?

There are five different tools mentioned in the megathread for activating windows. I was wondering which one is the best. I mean is there any advantage for one tool over other?

My last role was Cyber Security Consultant, with Firm part owned by the Government..

Some of the Best ways to install, add malware/viruses/Rootkits/Backdoors, to your computer:

  1. Click iffy email links,
  2. Install counterfeit software,
  3. Install Counterfeit Windows to avoid activation,
  4. Install/Run "tools" to attempt Counterfeit Windows Activation,

Cheapest way to install/possess Windows 10:

  1. Buy used DELL/Toshiba/HP, IBM etc computer, with Windows 7 COA label attached,
  2. Re-Install Windows 7, Fully update it,
  3. Download Windows 10 Media Generation Tool,
  4. Create Windows 10 USB Key,
  5. Upgrade Machine to Windows 10
  6. Backup Personal Data,
  7. Wipe hd clean, re-install Windows 10 from USB Key
  8. Et Voila, fresh Windows Install, Activated, updates working.

You can buy windows 10 keys from eBay stupidly cheap and that work! I am assuming they are from scrapped PCs
I honestly think Microsoft want people to have windows 10 on the cheap and that are going to make their money off the back of other packages like office 365 and AI stuff like azure
They are still validating windows 7 and 8 upgrades now but they said only the first year would be free!

True but risky, could have been sold multiple times.

If you buy machine with Windows COA, and SLIC authorization, works with that machine only. Wink

Yeah I’m not quite sure what is going on with the validation of used keys, most people that sell them say to use them within a certain number of days! Have brought numerous 10 pro keys 90% work but at the price it’s worth a punt!
I do like the fact once you enter the key and it validates you don’t need it again unless you do some serious hardware changes, great for folks who do an upgrade then you can do a clean install straight afterwards. Installing  windows 10 from fresh is so quick now it’s great!

Lev missed an amusing step.

Slam an old HDD into you machine (un-plug current one) load W7 as described, update all that good stuff, then just power down, re-plug you old HDD and magically your dodgy W10 install is licenced due the machine having a digital licence.

BE VERY aware, you need to upgrade W7pro to get W10 pro, don't bother with home edition!!!!!

"Intelligent" person can now buy broken knackered PC case, for about £25, with Windows 7/10 COA sticker, or go to Computer Fair, and buy one for £10.

Other people, will do something else.
