It's probably that that couriers have put their prices up due to fuel prices etc...

Check on eBay - I've bought big ticket items twice recently and the eBay price (from blue aran) was less than the jam discount price on the BA website.  Significantly less in one case.

You do realise petrol/diesel prices are sky rocketing right?

I stopped of at one service station to find petrol at 146.9p!!!!!!

Just accept oil is going through a rough patch and take the hit

I ordered four horn flares from Blue aran, post was very reasonable at about £6.50....if you think you can do better, will cost a lot more in fuel to go and collect yourself, just try it!
Be seeing you.

Somehow I can courier massive 30kg parcels from the UK to Europe for 18 quid inc VAT as a private customer, so I doubt it can be fuel costs. The price of smaller size parcels has been steady or rising from many services though.

Increased competition in the market may be having a rubber-banding effect.

The early effects could have been to bring prices down across the board, and then the after effects would be for them to come back up again as the slice of the pie available to each carrier is reduced, so their overheads become less effective, and they could also have noticed that the race to the bottom doesn't help their business in the long term.
