Blessings,
I'm looking to build my first reggae sound system. for boxes I was thinking, 2x 18" super scooper with Fane Colossus 18XB. 1x 15" midbass with 2 boxes in the enclosure, not sure which plan/drivers yet but that's what I see on the sounds in my area. 1x MT130 (https://www.freespeakerplans.com/plans/15-plans/midtopcab/35-mt-130) with the recommended drivers. Some other questions I have: 1. do you use amps per box or per section? 2. What's a nice preamp that doesn't break my bank to much but still has all the basic features 3. anything other I need i'm not talking about? (other than wood/cables/speakon panels) Any help is very appreciated! Thanks! |

This is very much your "Standard issue" of reggae soundsystems, should be a nice sounding rig.
Could look at fane sovereign 15 for your mid bass, heard good things about these in double 15 cabs. Not thought about going reflex for your tops? Easier to build and lovely sounding. Obviously not as efficient as the MT but still... You only have a small sub and mid bass section. Amp per section is best, but means you will need 4x amps, what is your budget? Ligwa 1U pre amp is a decent unit i hear, not sure how many outs it has though. |
