We are going to be using these speakers for an event, but apart from identifying the ASS badges, I'm not sure what these are? What sort of crossover points are needed etc. The bass speakers have the 'Spektra' patch panels, the midtops have the blank patch panels. Thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I can't see the size of the tops, but from the shape I'm assuming they are SP5. SP5= 3 way 15/6.5/1" 400w RMS SP9= single 18" 500w RMS. The link sockets are for paralleling a pair, not for hi out sub/sat. You will need a 2 way active crossover and a pair of stereo amps to driver the system in stereo, or a minimum of 2 channels to drive it in mono. For safe and clean operation at high levels, the amps should be able to deliver more power than the speakers. If you have a digital LMS then you can overlap the output of these boxes as the SP5 is regarded as a full range type of box. In this case you could try HPF@40hz and LPF@100hz for the sub, and HPF@60hz for the tops. If you have a standard 2 way crossover then I would suggest 80-90hz point. It may sound better at around 70hz, but that would limit the acoustic output of the sub. Most crossovers include a switchable HPF@ around 40hz.

Thanks for the information!
I worked out eventually that Spektra was a range from ASS, rather than it being a different make with ASS grills (sorry for being dull!). We have 3 QSC RMX 2450 amps and we will probably go with a 2 way crossover to start with. I was thinking of 2 amps on bass duties running a speaker from each channel and an amp running a pair of mid-tops. We will look at bridging amps/getting a proper LMS etc. in the future, but we are just starting off for now. Thanks again. Chris

One of my first systems was an ASS spektra pa all ran on c audio amplifiers. it was a really nice sounding but heavy weight setup.
I had the spektra analogue crossover which allowed you to run the tops full range overlapping the bass, super simple and effective. If you are sticking with qsc rmx; Instead of bridging the 2450’s, maybe try and get a 4050/5050 for the sub amplifier.

Thanks for the info, we aren't buying anymore amps for the 1st gig, so we will run with the RMX2450's (we will be careful as there is only 150W of headroom per bass speaker).
I've seen people on here say the dbx driverack is not much good, would the dbx 2 way crossover be better? Thanks Chris
