This heavyweight cerwin vega amp. Did they make it themselves or is it a rebadge of something? And does anyone have any experience of use? Thinking Elliott maybe? Cheers for any help. |

If you look at the 4 ohm ratings at 1/3rd to the power, under a 120-volt line, in the manual, it is 26.9 Amps. 26.9 amps under 120-volts is around 1612 watts per channel @ 4 ohms (Both channels driven). Possibly, if you drive the amplifier into severe clipping, you may attain 1800 watts per channel @ 4 ohms. Here is something to think about; 1800 watts vs 1612 watts: -0.48 dB Loss 1800 watts vs 1200 watts: -1.76 dB Loss 1200 watts vs 1612 watts: +1.28 dB Gain Usually +3 dB is bare minimum to hear a noticeable difference in terms of Bass. Best Regards,

Great Elliott, Much appreciated.
I was considering it for a part time bass amp as its a good price but I will wait for a better option. |

This amp seems very similar to the Hpa Electronic A5000

There was a time years ago when many brands released the same “5000” amplifier. Most of them looked and weighed the same.
Cerwin Vega CV5000 American Audio V5000 Crown XLS5000 Phonic XP5000 There were a few more but can’t remember right now. The Crown and American audio was pretty good at the time.

Pretty sure the Phonic XP5000 and the Crown XLS5000 are the same amps.
