Planning on building 2 more now! Wifes not too pleased as they live in the living room as part as the hifi! Oh well, she'll get over it, probably!

Ps, go for it with the elves! They seem very robust for the price. The cooling system on them seems very efficient too.

:)

was about to mention the 18-500s, heard them in scoops and reflex, for the money they are alright imo.. lacks in real depth in both cabs, same as proper upper response but still, good bang for buck..

Could also be built as a dual 12 PPSL as needed. (24"x24"x24")

The drivers on sale from Parts Express were only $75 each, free freight (in the USA).

Hey djk what drivers were used?

These 12" drivers are on sale http://ljudia.fi/Archive/ProductFiles/938572/E12-200S%20-%20specifications.pdf for 44,65 euros a piece!

The dual version would be cheap to build using two of those, just thinking...

The P.audio e18 600 is 150euros. 4xP.audio e12 200 is 190 euros. Not sure if the 4x12" would play out one 18"...

@ App

You've been away for a while, did you find a job?

The TSP for the P-audio drivers you linked are way off... You'd want something with a lowish Fs and a Qts around 0.3

And yes, 2x12 have roughly the same cone surface as a single 18.

^ Greetings from FI! Yes I did, thanks for asking! I work on weekend nights in a bar when needed so I get good extras like sunday/night extras. Ive managed to save some money and thats why Im considering to build a sound! Ill also be getting some tax returns this year!

My free time / financial situation is super good at the moment. I have both. Time and money!

I gotta dig into the drivers and try to find a "perfect" solution for the box. And I need to find out which box to build :D I have a long winter ahead so I have time to think about these things.

Cheap and efficient is the order of the day :)

If you are thinking 18's, then this might be some food for thought: Thomann 18-500 designs.
It's a German forum but since you have time, maybe a good opportunity to learn a third language as well. Or just use google translate.

And i don't think PPSL will be the best solution for your reggae as the excessive pre-amp knob fiddeling will mess up the B6 allignment, and over excursion might become a problem.

I just did a simulation for 2xmgr p-1800w which are the cheapest 18" drivers around.

Does something look funny here?

The box size is 290litres,tuning freq is 40hz and the ports are 7,5cm/11,4.

Signal is 700w.The drivers are supposed to take 350wrms.

Rear port air velocity is max at 20hz 31m/s.

Cone excursion is under control to my understanding.

Any comments are appreciated...

I might get this amp cause it propably has the best price/quality ratio around with the price at 222euros? http://www.thomann.de/fi/behringer_inuke_nu3000dsp_amplifier.htm
