Hector, could you explain once more what happens when you do the 9V battery test? How do the cones move?

plugged a speakon into the cab... other end of the cable bare ends.... touch a 9v battery on the bare ends... black to neg... red to +
Both speakers... move forward...
Ie: the one facing into the cab, which is wired ‘inverted’ moves forward... ie: cone forwards and the other speaker which is facing out and wired normally, the cone moves forward as well... will try em again in a while ... makes sure I’ve got this right... I tried both cAbs before..both did the same... though thinking about it...should the ‘inverted one’ Move backwards? At the moment they are both moving Cones forward...

In other words, standing at the front of the cab, when applying 9v to input, cone facing inward moves away from you and cone facing outward moves towards you?

In that case, you need to reverse the wires on the inward facing driver only so that when you apply voltage the cone on the inward facing driver moves towards its magnet and the cone on the outward facing driver still moves outwards as per normal---this will put the cones back in synchro phase wise and you will find that you will probably have about five times more bass than what you had previously.

So wrong. It is identical in output to any double driver box, but has cleaner sound.

They should move into same direction, either into the box or out from the box, but not in same relative direction, cone forwards / backwards as driver.

So: Cone visible: Cone comes forwards
Magnet visible: Cone comes backwards.

Both thus move OUT from the box and are in correct polarity.

Just done that......and the result is.........
Happiness!.... contentment....... emanating from a deep bass presence previously lacking in my life....and from these boxes.... which now sound lovely....... Thank you...
I wonder how long they have been in use like that with previous owners... still... sorted now... Thank you

Good to hear it is fixed now. And yeah, i can understand why there was a serious lack of bass before. Maybe that is why previous owner decided to sell them? :D

Yes most likely why the previous owner decided to move em on.... They weren't much good to anybody sounding like that before ..... Looked decent...sounded horrible!
Im looking forward to hearing em in a big room next week... :)
Cheers! and Thanks to everyone pitching in to help get there...much appreciated!!

Yes Pasi 100% correct. Should have said SOUNDS quieter due to no distortion. My bad explanation. (to be fair I blame the Prosecco).Big smile

I actually thought OP said they moved forward, which he did, but my angle on forward was towards front of box. Wacko
