Being completely ignorant of gas, what is the difference between liquid and gas decant? It's been a while since I did physics but CO2 at anything above a few bar is going to be stored as a liquid in the cylinder, non? So i'm guessing the difference is how its tapped off, but then surely opening a valve is opening a valve?

Also anyone know anywhere where you can get hoses made up?

Liquid CO2 tanks have a syphon tube in, mostly or the take off is at the bottom.
As for hoses and fittings, a decent hydralic (looks wrongly spelt .... But my spelling is some of the worst on this forum...) supplier can make you hoses etc, the only place I have managed to get the coupler for a liquid tank from is a paint-balling supplier called powerball in Aldershot, hants. If you run full pressure ie no regulator then try and stick to small bore hose as the kinectic energy in a large bore system is massive....

Apperently so, my knowledge on this comes from trying to recommision a Le Matre LSX low smoke machine that uses liquid CO2 to crash cool the smoke and get a low smoke effect and le matre tell me they did a hi pressure and a low pressure model, the later requiring a reg on it.

The whole point of DIY is to save on laying out the dinar though and my experience of non-arena level fx companies has thus far been thoroughly underwhelming
