Hi Speakerplans,

I'm refurbishing some Community RS220 speakers and they are almost done. I have 4 of these speakers, so 8 x 8" drivers in total. 5 of these drivers have the rubber foam surround and there are some cracks in it. Now I want to change them and I have trouble in finding recone sets, SLS920 drivers,... Or can I just order new surrounds from TLHP,... and use those on the drivers? Other then that all 8 drivers are in good working condition.

There isn't a recone kit as far as I know , but you can replace the surrounds. I got Wembley to do mine, not sure they are doing much these days, but another good recone company could help. Think I paid 30 each to refoam mine maybe 8 years ago.

Acccording to Companies House the company 
dissolved on October 14 last year.

Always found them very helpful.
I started out in this business with nothing.
I still have most of it left.

They had been downsizing for a long time and left their unit a few years back.
Someone else will be able to refoam them

We did parties with these boxes (HeathrowBline on SP owned them), tiny, surprisingly heavy and outrageously loud for such a small box - but could also rip your face off if used carelessly, they need some taming… seeing a lot of them about recently.

speakerrepairshop has those surrounds, i gluid them myself on my rs220 tops, i'm located in the netherlands so belgium should not be a problem.

My buddy had a couple of blown drivers.  I saw some recommendations from somewhere, one being a Faital driver, but I wasn't impressed with that one.

Eminence made them, but they only have 8 ohm 8" drivers, no 4 ohm ones.

I did find that DS18 has a 4 ohm 8" driver whos specs were closer than the other 2 drivers recommended, plus these are built almost like the Eminence.  The frames are slightly larger, I had to tap on the edge of one in order to mount it next to another original driver, so mounting 2 of them in a box will require some modifications, maybe cutting the frame?

Eminence beta 8a also works. No audible difference

Got them from Dave howden from community.
He also send me fir files for the rs220
