Hi,

i'm going to start a new project for a friend, he's looking for 2 Top and 2 sub for little indoor and outdoor psy trance party(mainly, some dub, ambient... could be played aswell).

He's main concern is the price(who doesn't LOLLOL), and the size.
The wall system have to feet in a ford transit, i will put the exact dimension later.
The 4speaker (exept amps, filter and all electric/electronic stuff) should not be more than 2000€

I think something like a single 18 in a bass reflex sub + a reflex cab 15/1,4 on cd(with passive filter) par side or something similar ?

So does anybody made something similar here ?

id get some used opus if possible, the king of Psy!!

even better, its generally pretty cheap used as its not 'cool'.

A pair of SB215's plus pair of MP400's would be a kickass little rig [is similar to what im trying to put together again!] Thumbs Up

can you get eminence where you are located?  they are a great price for good drivers, nothing amazing but they don't make stuff that sucks.  something like

Tops, one psd 2002 and two delta 12b woofers per side, passive xover at 1.5 k.  done these with amazing success and they go loud! the efficiency and cone area of the two 12s make up for the efficiency difference in the horn driver, and they really kick well.

subs, two x definomax 4015lf per side, could be a bit pricy as they are higher up the eminence range a bit, but with the dual fifteens per side you are likely to be able to dig a bit lower and gain a good bit of efficiency.

I have built exactly this system for a small live music venue six or so years ago and apart from a horn driver failure caused by a squealing mic dropped into a monitor, they've lasted perfectly and really sound wonderful.  they have supported a good number of hip hop acts too and while more bass would have been nice, i was not really pushing beyond the happy limits of the subs at all.  the subs are each powered by a bridged carver pm1.5 and the mids are run stereo on a qsc mx2000a?  i dont remember but its a big ol qsc workhorse from the 90s.

Cheers
Mike

There was someone on Facebook selling a little shermann system 4 x tops and 4 x subs for £1000

Simple direct radiating system. Sounds stunning for delicate dance music. I used to own some.

Opus is nice too but rare these days just like shermann.

if you know the eq cuts needed, the psd is not really that bad, and for the price, even better.  I've actually upgraded from the jbl 2412 to it with fine results.  its no bms but its no where near the price either. If the budget would allow, then sure, theres better drivers, but for a starter kit with room to grow, the psd is nice for the beginning.
