24 inches is a little wide for my living room and I'd like to have a bass horn. I was wondering if I could take this plan and narrow it to maybe 18 inches and use a 12" in it instead.

Changing the width will affect the response from the cab, What driver do you intend to put in it, as this will have a major effect on response aswell?
If its for your living I would look into other options available ;)

Thanks Djy for the link... cool build page.
I guess my thinking there should be some kind of horn design that would work with a 12 inch speaker.

If you're after a horn for a 12" driver, look at the Punisher. You need to use the Ciare driver which it's designed for though. That Eminence won't cut it.

then have a RLH (BLH) instead of a FLH, or even a TH
you could design a nice cab for a 12'' driver Edited by mykey- - 26 October 2010 at 11:36am |

You could also have a look into some of the designs from Billfitzmaurice.com
The plans are cheap, and are based around some cheap eminence drivers, if it is for the living room TV/Movies/Music I'd go for the THT which can be built slim. There is also some good tapped horn designs over on diyaudio.com in the subwoofer section. Jbell has a single sheet plan, that uese the eminence 3015lf, Don Synder has a tapped horn design for the Lab 12 - http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/143714-lab12-tapped-horn.html And Lil mike has plans for a 6'5" driver |
