Hi. Someone has offered a couple of these to me:-- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The asking price isn't too bad - but no model numbers! I presume XLS602. Can anyone confirm - and if they are worth bothering with -- or just doorstops... Cheers. |

I think that's a 402 rather than a 602, it's a c-audio GB402 in a different box.
Decent enough, british designed, mildly fiddly to service due to single board construction but they sold tons in the old and new form. Have a tendency to fill up with dust from my experience.

Weight it. Easy way to tell what model it is then.
XLS-202: 21.0 lbs. (9.5 kg). XLS-402: 25.3 lbs. (11.5 kg) XLS-602: 27.2 lbs. (12.3 kg)

Aaah - ok, cheers. ![]() I do like the fact that there are "proper" TO3's in there, NOT Class D - and no SMPS. Always a good sign. ![]() The one I opened was a bit dusty, but not too bad. Under the main board was actually really clean. The dropper resistor for the fans was a bit brown, but that's normal. I was a bit curious about the lack of model number, though. I need to ask the owner what happened there. Chinese glue?? ![]() |

I have an old C Audio GB602 that I use occasionally for a pair of 12"+1". Sounds great and has never set a foot wrong. It is a 3u chassis though.

I would have to check but I'm pretty sure it's UK made. I've had enough fireworks displays to keep me away from Chinese kit unless that's what I'm aiming for...

Yes, the old C-Audio amps were pretty solid. Really made before the rush to China. I do laugh at the often seen, "Designed In XYZ Country" then "Manufactured in China" seen on so much gear these days.
