Hello guys , I have with me a Crown Micro-tech 1200 to test , a friend is trying to sell me for 100€/ 70£ , do you think is it worth nowadays buying a Crown Micro-tech 1200 in good shape to drive some 2 inch comp??
I will try drive 1x B&C DE85 8Ohms + 2x B&C DE45 16Ohms per channel with the micro-tech, it will do the job?

Do you think the amp worth 70£ ? it is an amp with more than 20 years old, I know.. It will be better to buy something new?

It´s gonna be my first Crown experience, I have many QSC MX/ JBL MPX MPA , CREST CA , CREST 8...PRO and 9001 series .

Thanks Jorge

sounds like a good deal, MT series are very similar to the MA series (Macrotech) so build quality is very high

I would have thought one of those would fetch £100 - £150 in the UK although I guess the lack of front panel input controls will put off quite a few buyers.
Keep pushing on, things are gonna get better.

I did the test on the Crown mt1200 , and the result was:

first time I fired up, the ODEP light on channel 1 came on immediately, but on channel 2 the ODEP ligth went on after a minute or two! What problem is it? The amp was not used ten years.. always turned off..  and then I was try to get the sound from the two channels and It only came sound from Channel 1! the amp was in Stereo mode switch.

Then I switch off the amp and tried the amp in paralel mono mode , the sound came from channel 1 ok, but the sound from channel two was completely distorted! The light from channel 2 ODEP started getting clearer now, but not completely brilliant as ODEP Channel 1.

Then I thought, let give it a few minutes to warm up, and then I will try again.

30 min after , switch off the amp , and put it in stereo mode again, and tried again , now the sound was ok on the 2 channels , the ODEP light was full on the two channels, and the amp sound nice not distorted , but I still think the channel 2 didn´t sound as louder as channel 1 , but now was not distorted..

What do you sound guys , think about this Crown Micro-tech 1200? is their any problem with the amp? or is just dust and moisture?

Best regards , Jorge.

Open it up and give it a clean. Check the power supply condensors for leaking or bulging. They may need to be replaced on such an old amp.

Thanks earplug, there are only 2 big condensors inside?
Do you think it is a good buy 100€ for this amp with this fault?
Or do I make another offer 60 €/70€?
Best regards Jorge.

How much is for one condensor? The fault is only on channel two.
But after 30min plugged on the amp makes good sound..
