How did you manage to get the software to work in the end? Mine just keeps coming up with no device found?

finally realised that the software on the disc shipped with the amp was not the right version. ask them to email you correct version - or PM me if no luck and I will find the file they sent to me. Once I had the correct version it all just worked without any setup required. latest amps don't need laptop connected with USB>LAN converter - just connect them to network and the software will automatically find them.

got a Sinbosen D4-3000 DSP last week. It is virtually identical to the Morin amp and has definitely been assembled in the same factory. Sinbosen caps are KXJ 270uF 250V and Nichicon 120uF 400V cores on the power supply are similar but have different part numbers on them - can't find specs online though. Sinbosen power lead is 3mm2 rather than 2.5mm2 on the Morin and CVR Sinbosen 12V fans are 4*1.4A which is four times as much airflow as the Morin or CVR Will do a post about the Sinbosen DSP when I've had more of a play with it. Morin: https://www.mouser.co.uk/datasheet/2/240/Littelfuse_Discrete_MOSFETs_N-Channel_HiPerFETs_IX-1856253.pdf CVR: https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/585880/FairchildSemiconductor/FDH45N50F/1 Sinbosen: Oriental Semiconductor looks like it says OSG65R041HT3Z D10P05N but can't find a spec sheet for that exact part number |

Current isn’t inherently linked to CFM of a fan…

not inherently, but when components are de-rated by 5W/C cooling can be an issue. the CVR has a heat sensor on each channel and on the power supply so will try to investigate how hot it gets at high output. |

But what has that got to do with baseless statements about air flow?
![]() Air flow is also only one small cog in the machine of thermal management, it doesn’t matter if it shifts more air than a Boeing 737 if it’s not ducted to give adequate air flow over the relevant components

It's one of a very few obvious objective differences between two otherwise identical amps. Whether it is significant depends on whether you believe the higher power specs and whether these seem compatible with the differing cap and MOSFET specs. |

I cannot say I have heard of any CVR amplifiers offering any overheating issues. As for the Morin, the hottest I have ever encountered was 55 Degrees Celsius when I conducted the longevity test years ago.
Had an outdoor event last week in which, I used the Morin for Bass to power two Double Eighteens. The amplifier remained 46 Degrees Celsius for 8 hours ( -5 dB from Clipping) under 87 degrees Fahrenheit weather with, 100% Humidity. 45 - 46 Degrees Celsius appears to be the standard on the Morin for the past 2 years this amplifier has been in usage. Best Regards,

So whats the most solid looking build qualitywise of the various companies if they seem to be made in the same or similar factories?

just spent a while trying to use dsp software connecting D2004 amplifier and laptop to a router. This works for newer CVR amps but I think this one may have come with an USB adapter to connect laptop direct to amplifier. Think adapter may be lost - what would be a suitable replacement? Or should I be asking CVR to send the exact right one? Did you ever get older amp to work another way without the adapter? will this work? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176137768011 Edited by snowflake - 09 June 2024 at 11:47pm |

I'd say that it is a bit of a lottery. Ya pay ya money & ya take ya chances... ![]() BUT - the amps are cheap enough to buy a couple of spares just in case.... ![]() |
