i am getting round to setting the delays on a system i'm putting together for a night, it consists of four scoops, 2 horn loaded kick/bass bins and some tops.
A) Whats the best way for working out the delay times?
B) Is there anything in particular i need to do with my scoops or shall i treat them as direct radiators?
cheers

Somehow, don't think you'll get much response here...
I asked this while ago, many differing opinions... "What works for me" is, delay each cab above the scoop, by the difference in horn length to the scoop. For compression drivers, calculate using length of the horn. DCX 2496, allow delays to specified in cm, which is very useful. If you don't know specific horn length of your scoop, and its 18" (and not HOG), it's prob about 190cm. |

I agree with lev on the delay but ALSO run scoops with phase inverted! To get your head round that imagine it was a normal horn without the direct radiation, you'd delay it by the path length but the driver would (normally) be facing into the throat. Scoops are the other way around so either flip the phase on the LMS or wire the box with reversed polarity. Alf |
