Have you looked in the BIOS? Might be an option to disable in there. Alternately disconnect the ribbon cable connecting it to the motherboard.. should only be a few screws.

Disconnect the connector to the motherboard. Take off the top piece of the case and pull out the ribbon cable =]
I have a few spare laptop keyboards floating about I could sell to you on the cheap if you want / they're right .. whats the model? :)

Don't know advent that well but before you take your laptop to bits, some keyboards are simple held in with tabs above the "F" keys, you just push the little tab towards the screen and the keyboard is free. Failing that look underneath, any screw with a K prefix nect to it's hole is a keyboard holding screw...
Once u'r in you'll find a flexible ribbon that disconnects either with a sharp STRAIGHT tug or clicking the top of the connector on the main PCB upwards to relase the thing. To install a new one simple puch the ribbon into the hole and click the top of the connector back down. The whole job usually only moves about 1mm so don't use a tyre lever and a mallet!!!!!!!
