If you have a good LMS (even the dcx2496 would do) then it is pretty easy to phase align at the Xover point between your subs and kick just using your ears and a test tone. There is a lot of advice on this forum about it. Should make a very appreciable difference if they are that much out of phase now.

there was still something wrong to cause the bass to cut out for the last half hour though...

You may well get it sounding better by sorting your LMS out, but you have a fundamental electrical issue by the sounds of it (amp thermalling/protecting, bad connection in cab, amp rack, cable, etc)

BTW, did it actually come back on again or was it off for the end of the night? Have you run them since? If not, is there the possibility that you've actually just blown them up?

i cant remember to be honest. my mate reckons it come back on, i know we didnt blow them.
so say if i had my 1850's doin 42hz-80hz
and hd's doin 80-180/200hz
(this is how we had it and everyone including the club manager was happy with so thats how i was told to leave it) were would i put my phase on my dcx2496 (80o)
